Don’t miss the op-paw-tunity to find your new furry best friend for just $50 at Townsville City Council’s Animal Care and Adoption Centre this month.
The blitz sale on cats and kittens will last for all of March and includes all cats and kittens at the Animal Care and Adoption Centre.
Community Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability Committee chairperson Maurie Soars said the centre ensured all animals were ready to join their new homes.
“This March is National Pet Adoption Month, and what better way to celebrate than by visiting our Animal Care and Adoption Centre to see if there’s a cat or kitten who would make a great addition to your family,” Cr Soars said.
“Council’s teams work hard to make sure each cat and kitten is desexed, wormed, microchipped and have had their first vaccination.
“These animals are ready to settle down into loving homes, which is why I’d encourage anyone interested in adopting to head to our website and see which cats and kittens we have available for adoption.”
Don’t fur-get that this $50 sale ends at the end of March, so call the Animal Care and Adoption Centre on 0457 769 362 if you’re interested in coming out to see if the right claw-some cat or kitten is available for adoption into your home.

I spoke with the person in charge of this charge of getting rid of all the ferals on Australian Islands from the Federal Dept of Envrironment, we enjoyed a laugh together when I asked if this meant the Koalas as well, she responded to say "all in moderation" to which I agreed and then asked if she considered de-sexed cats as being satisfactory to which she agreed wholeheartedly .... again leading to moderation. Charly if there can be no moderation from you, as spokesperson for your "Our" group, I wonder then c…
Whilst it is commendable that Townsville Council is trying to re-home some of the hundreds of cats that are abandoned in the city each year, it is quite something else to foist them onto Magnetic Island. The council drafted new by-laws to put this aspiration into effect with Councillor Maurie Soares stating at the time "changing the policy around cats on the world heritage-listed island…
