Greg the three-legged cat from Townsville City Council’s Animal Care and Adoption centre is proving to be the new star attraction and a much-loved member of the team at local business Feed 2 Go.

Feed 2 Go are a one stop produce shop on Ingham Road in Bohle specialising in equine supplies and pet and livestock products, and Greg has quickly become a much-loved part of the family since being adopted by the team.

Yazmin Syed from Feed 2 Go said they were after a shed cat to keep an eye on things at their store and her co-worker Rachael Barrett came home from the Adoption Centre with the tiny and loveable Greg, who they named after a former co-worker.

“He’s a very affectionate cat, he’s very people-oriented, and he’s definitely Rachael’s baby,” Yazmin said.

“It’s lovely having him here and while it hasn’t been that long I don’t think we could have the shop without him anymore. He’s a really important part of our team.”

Like most animals at the Animal and Adoption centre, Greg came in as a stray through a vet clinic and unfortunately, he was unable to be re-untied with his original family.

He also had a severely injured foreleg that had to be amputated by the centre’s veterinarian, but the procedure has had no effect on his outgoing and loving nature.

After a rough trot earlier in his life the resilient Greg has landed on his three feet after the Feed 2 Go team made him one of their family.

Rachael she was delighted with how well Greg had fitted in with the team and encouraged other Townsville residents to think about adopting a dog or cat for themselves.

“He just goes about his business, and we sometimes forget that he even has three legs,” she said.

“Now he has become a bit of a rockstar, he’s very well-known some customers come in just to see him. He’s also our chief taste-tester and he even warned us when there was a snake in the shop one day.

“In our eyes he’s a million-dollar cat, and he’s come into our lives for as reason.”

Committee Chairperson for Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability, Maurie Soars, was delighted to hear about another success story from the Council’s Animal Care and Adoption Centre.

“Our three-legged mate Greg is just another great story to come out Council’s adoption centre and he’s a perfect fit for the team out at Feed 2 Go,” Cr Soars said.

“We have a wide variety of cats and dogs available to adopt and they would make a great addition to any Townsville residents looking to add a pet to their family.”
