Townsville City Council is conducting preliminary site investigation works for the Picnic Bay Reservoir Bypass Pipeline project from 15 - 29 September 2022.
The works involve: geotechnical drilling changed traffic conditions along the proposed pipeline route, including short sections of one-way traffic along West Point Road.
Traffic control will be in place to direct traffic around the geotechnical drilling rig and hydro-vac service location vehicles.
The bypass pipeline project is designed to improve reliability and risk management for Magnetic Island’s water system and involves the construction of a 940 metre long, 375mm diameter water main along West Point Road and Yule Street, between the Cockle Bay Drive and Birt Street intersections.
