The MICDA Transport group have the above vision for Magnetic Island roads in its push for Totally Renewable Magnetic Island.
The MCN are yet to contact TCC to see if they will dig up the recently upgraded Horseshoe Bay road which was funded by State Govt to accomodate these solar coils?
Let alone the impact of tree clearing and the impact on our native wildlife.
Currently MICDA Transport group has 11 members as part of their whole island plan.
Is this vision really what the Magnetic Island community wants for this island?
This is what our island Community Development Assoc. is advocating? ?
Why do you even need cars on MI? The Bus is more than adequate, why not walk or ride to the shop or even across the island? I think the island should be bus, electric bike, walking and maybe electric Mini Mokes for old times sake. Speed limited to 40 KPH.
Morse code - life changing. A small step in thousands that led to the phone people use every day.
No right minded person is suggesting the examples posted by MICDA are going to remove habitat and threaten wildlife. They are just future possibilities for all mankind.
Hhhhhhmmmm --- what a honey pot! Who in MICDA/TRM put their name to this for it to be taken as so seriously considerable, they were able to convince themselves to publish the thought bubble to, and ask/insist the community shoud believe it. Statistics and proof of concept?? Just. another grant to qualify the concept! There are very serious generational losses thru air. Does anyone remember the drag on your pedal power pushie when you engaged the dynamo? There are forces at play. It pays to remember what the word "Power", really means. Power out = Power in + losses. Electricity is expensive to generate so you need not waste it in air gaps between the magnetics of transformers in the…
The Magnetic Island community will need to do a lot of soul searching as the push to go totally renewable ramps up. Solar, Wind , Hydrogen all of them look industrial - all of them will see the clearing of land. Not to mention the loss of wildlife habitat. Think long and hard before MICDA claim that they represent this community....
