The committee of wrote to TCC regarding the damaged Sooning St bridge here is their response:
Thank you for your enquiry of 22 January 2025 in which you sort an update on the Gustav Creek culvert structure on Sooning Street, Nelly Bay.
We wish to advise that while the restoration of the structure is a high priority for Council there are a range of issues that are currently being considered as we review what caused the failure, repair / replacement options and the more complex area of environmental constraints associated with working in a waterway subject to tidal movement, fishways and protected plant species.
While we are attempting to fast track the restoration works,
Council must comply with a range of environmental legislation.
These approvals have been initiated. Once endorsed replacement drainage structures, as per the environmental approvals will need to be manufactured.
The process will be timely and as such Council is preparing a project specific page on its website that will provide updates when available.
Thank you for your patience and understanding on this matter.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the severe weather conditions the February MIRRA meeting scheduled for the 1st Feb , has been cancelled
