It is wth great sadness we note the passing of long time Magnetic Island resident Sarah ( Sadie) Gibson.
Sadie passed away on Saturday 18th June at the age of 99, two months short of her 100th birthday.
We had the great pleasure of interviewing Sadie for the VP 50.
Sadie was an ambulance driver during WW2 in the London Blitz.
She also trained as a mechanic during the war and was a driver for Army personell.
Sadie had a lovely Scottish accent, wonderful sense of humour and loved a couple of wee drams whilst sharing stories.
Sadie was a member of the Tuesday craft group. Sadie volunteered at the MI Care for a number of years.
RIP dear lady.
