As TCC scrambles to have the new bus route changes in place by Monday 2nd December, which is a week today.
Has anyone seen a TCC explanation flyer showing what bus stops will be removed and where the new bus stops will be located, placed in your letter box?
At the November MIRRA meeting held on Saturday 2nd Matt Richardson TCC General Manager Infrastructure and Fleets and Division 3 Cr. Ann Maree Greaney were in attendance explaining the new bus routes, along with maps of Nelly Bay & Arcadia.
At that meeting I requested council do a full letter box delivery across the island, so the residents would be aware of the changes. Public transport users are generally pensioners and low income earners, many of these do not even have a computer or smart phones. Not everyone is on the internet and their are those who choose not to have Facebook accounts, also some people who do not wish to join island FB community group pages for various reasons.
TCC cannot just rely on attending a MIRRA meeting and then, say they held community consultation. It is not up to MIRRA or for that matter the MCN ( I am not employed by TCC) to try to explain their reasoning behind the changes.
To date I have not received any TCC flyer in the past month(s) in my letter box , if anyone has please advise.
